Mohammad Abarkhos: The Man to Whom Moroccans in America Owe a Great Deal.

 

Some people are like water, air, and sunshine providing everything to others without expecting anything in return. Even when others fail to appreciate them, they continue to serve out of love and dignity. The late Mohamed Abrakhous was one of these exceptional individuals. He devoted himself to helping everyone until his passing.

 

Someone once wrote about the late Abarkhos whom immigrants in America affectionately called Mohamed saying, Mohammadd was a simple man who loved all his countrymen and sacrificed for them. He helped students and new immigrants, providing them with all kinds of support.

 

Many have shared similar sentiments, capturing a character that is hard to summarize. The late Mohammadd was a man of rare qualities, a true embodiment of the Moroccan spirit. He loved his fellow countrymen, was kind to them, opened the doors of his home and the depths of his pocket to help them, and smoothed the path for them until they achieved their goals and were able to help others in turn.

 

In fact, he was truly one-of-a-kind, possessing the ability to accomplish in a short time, with an open mind, what many others could not. Over the years, he became known among all members of the Moroccan community in the United States as the key to every closed door, the one who solved difficult problems and was indispensable for every newcomer seeking the right direction.

 

One community member recalled, Mohammad was one of the kindest people in God's creation. We sat with him in La Madeleine. He was a wise, generous man who gave so much to the community, yet he never received what he deserved, poor him. Nevertheless, he had a sterling reputation, and everyone prays for him. That is the greatest reward: having someone pray for you in this world, even if you spend out of your own pocket. He was truly a remarkable man. May God have mercy on him and grant him a spacious grave.

 

Indeed, he is held in unanimous regard by the Moroccan community in the United States, especially by those who immigrated in the seventies and eighties of the last century. Mohammad Abarkhos, a truly virtuous man, may God have mercy on him.

  محماد أبرخوص.الرجل الذي يدين له مغاربة أميركا بالكثير 

 

بعض الناس يشبهون الماء والهواء وأشعة الشمس. يقدمون لغيرهم كل شيء دون مقابل. وحتى حين لا يهتم بهم الآخرون كما ينبغي، يواصلون تقديم .خدماتهم، حبا وكرامة. والمرحوم محماد أبرخوص واحد من هؤلاء، ظل في خدمة الجميع، إلى أن توفاه الله.

كتب أحدهم يتحدث عن المرحوم أبرخوص، أو محماد، كما كان يحلو للمهاجرين بأميركا أن ينادوه: "كان محماد إنسانا بسيطا يحب جميع أبناء بلده، ويضحي من أجلهم. يساعد الطلبة والمهاجرين الجدد، ويقدم لهم جميع أنواع الدعم".

وكتب كثيرون كلاما من هذا القبيل، كله يختزل شخصية تستعصي على الاختزال، تؤكد إلى أي مدى كان المرحوم محماد رجلا من طينة نادرة، رجلا حقيقا، مصنوع من طينة "تمغربيت"، التي جعلته يحب كل أبناء بلده، ويعطف عليهم، ويفتح لهم أبواب بيته، وجيبه أيضا، ويمهد لهم الطريق، ويسهل عليهم الصعاب، إلى أن يبلغوا المراد، ويصبحوا قادرين على شق الطريق الذي يوصلهم إلى غاياتهم.

وبالفعل، فقد كان هذا الرجل مفردا بصيغة الجمع، يملك القدرة على أن يفعل في وقت وجيز، وبسعة صدر، ما لا يملك أن يفعله كثيرون غيره، بحيث صار معروفا، على مدى سنوات لدى كل أبناء الجالية المغربية بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية، باعتباره مفتاحا لكل الأبواب المقفلة، وصاحب الحل لكل المشكلات العويصة، والرجل الذي لا بد منه لكل وافد جديد يريد أن يعرف الاتجاه الصحيح.

قالت عنه إحداهن:"محماد كان من أطيب خلق الله ياااااما كلسنا معاه في لامادلين. كان إنسان معقول، وعطا الجالية كثير، لكن مخداش حقه مسكين، ولكن خذا السمعة الطيبة، وكلشي كيترحم عليه. هذا هو أكبر جزاء أنك تخلي اللي يترحم عليك في الدنيا.. رغم أنه كان كيصرف من جيبه....، عاقلة عليه مزيااااان الله ارحمه ويوسع عليه ضيق القبور".

ولأنه محط إجماع الجالية المغربية بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية، ويعترف له الجميع بأفضاله عليهم، ولاسيما من جاؤوا إلى أميركا في السبعينيات والثمانينات من القرن الماضي،
